Pizza Planet: Memories of a Salad and a Cupcake

Hollywood Studios had a lot of dining options (including the 50s Prime Time Cafe, Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater, Hollywood & Vine, and other table-service restaurants), but choosing something to eat was a little harder for us, being budget-minded or on the a quick-service dining plan.  I’m not crazy about Pizza Planet’s pizza, but, I do think it’s fun to eat at a restaurant that’s straight out of a movie.  We knew our son would think that was pretty cool too.

Beware, however, there are arcade games in here.  I dragged my kid off of a motorcycle game, telling him, “We are at Disney World.  These kinds of games are everywhere.  I’m not spending money on them here.”  Tough luck, son.

We used our quick-service dining plan to get the kids a not-fantastic cheese pizza meal with applesauce, a cookie, and milk.  My husband and I both got an Antipasto Salad (which sells for $7.99, according to AllEars.Net).

Antipasto SaladThis was one of those food purchases that we’re still talking about months later.  It was refreshing and the flavors were delicious.  This salad is made of crisp Romaine lettuce, salami chunks, pepperoni slices, kalamata olives, thickly shredded mozzarella cheese, grape tomatoes, and Italian dressing.  It was so good, and it tasted especially great on a hot day in Florida.

For dessert, I chose a seasonal cherry chocolate cupcake, which was ok.  My husband picked a Cappuccino Cupcake.

Cappuccino CupcakeThe Cappuccino Cupcake was the best cupcake I’ve ever had.  Seriously.  The frosting was so. good.  And it was beautiful.  I’m not a coffee drinker, so if the coffee flavor were too strong, I would say so.  It seemed subtle to me.  Really, this cupcake was just fantastic.

When my husband and I talk about our next trip to Disney World, these two food items make the list of things that we’re excited about, so I guess we’ll be hitting up Pizza Planet once again.

Here are some other pictures from our lunch there.

  1. Can’t wait to try those cupcakes some day!

  2. Oh man, that salad. I dream about that salad.

  3. You’re a momma after my own heart! I say the same thing to my boys about the arcade every time we visit. And we MUST visit Pizza Planet – my kids think it’s awesome that they’re practically walking into a Toy Story movie just by eating there! (We were there during Star Wars weekends and I have to say, the Darth Vader cupcakes were amazing!)

    • I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one! Ha! I would love to try that Darth Vader cupcake. Mmm! Disney does a good job with cupcakes!
