Last October, Maelstrom in the Norway Pavilion of Epcot’s World Showcase closed, in order to make way for the construction of an attraction based on the movie Frozen.  This summer, the ride’s story was released.  Now, we have concept art for the attraction’s sign, a scene from the ride, and the expanded pavilion.

The sign for the ride ride features the Frozen logo in its signature font, as well as traditional Norwegian rosemaling (a decorative style of painting).

The last several weeks have been crazy at my house, so I haven’t been posting much.  It feels good to finally get something published again.  Today, I’m linking up with Focused on the Magic’s Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop!

This week’s theme is “Celebrations!”

Traveling to Disney World/land is always a cause of celebration, but here are a few pictures of mine that this week’s theme made me think of.

Closing down the Magic Kingdom on my Birthday!

A while back, I discovered the Magical Ribbons Shop.  I’ve been wanting to do a post about it ever sense, and here it is!

I have two sons and a baby on the way this fall.  If the baby is a girl, I can tell you that some of these bows are in her future.  If it’s a third boy, I think I will buy myself some ribbons!  These products are so cute and so perfectly matched to their inspirations.

(Note: I have not yet personally purchased any of these ribbons, nor am I receiving anything in exchange for this post.  All opinions are my own.)

When I found them, I especially fell in love with the bows that are inspired by the Parks.  The shop carries bows based on California and Florida attractions, parades, cast member uniforms, resort hotels, and even snacks!  There are also character bows and non-Disney ones (including some fun superhero ones, Star Wars, Dr. Who, and more).

Here are a few (okay, more than a few!) of my favorites from the site, compared to their inspirations.

On this day, 60 years ago, Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California opened its gates to invited guests.  It was then that Walt Disney delivered his famous speech:

To all who come to this happy place: Welcome.
Disneyland is your land.
Here, age relives fond memories of the past,
and here, youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future.
Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts
that have created America,
with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration
to all the world.

That, it, indeed, has been.

Here are some interesting facts about Disneyland’s opening: Continue Reading…

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for Focused on the Magic’s Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop!

This week’s theme is “This is Really Good!”

Of course, a phrase like that makes me think of food, and there is plenty of good food to be had in Disney World.  But, I’ve decided to stray from the food idea and pick a few other things that are “really good” parts of being at Disney World.  (That’s pretty much everything, for the record, but, I will try to pick just a few.)

Enjoy the list and have a great Wednesday!  Continue on to see the rest of the Blog Hop after checking out my post.

Starting Your Disney Adventure

It is so exciting to scan your Magic Band at the airport and know that, from there on out, you will be on Disney property.  The magic awaits you!

Wishes … Ok, All of the Nighttime Shows

Wishes is my favorite, but they’re all so good that I can’t leave them out.  Disney’s nighttime shows are not to be missed. Continue Reading…

This week’s theme is “Wild Rides!”

I’m not much of a thrill-ride rider.  You won’t find me on Expedition Everest or Tower of Terror.  But, my family and I absolutely love Seven Dwarfs Mine Train!  This picture is me with our almost 5-year-old son, who could have ridden this all day.

You can’t go to Disney World and miss the American Patriotism there.  This Independence Day, I thought I’d spotlight a few of those things for you.  Enjoy some views from the Park before taking in fireworks and eating hot dogs and hamburgers today!

Main Street U.S.A

Inspired by Walt Disney’s hometown of Marceline, Missouri in the turn-of-the-century era.

Walt said, “For those of us who remember the carefree time it recreates, Main Street will bring back happy memories. For younger visitors, it is an adventure in turning back the calendar to the days of their grandfather’s youth” (Wikipedia).

Stuffed Animals

Bring some little stuffed friends with you if you’re staying at a
Walt Disney World Resort hotel!

When we went to Disney World, we packed along a couple of favorite teddy bears, as well as a few, small, Disney stuffed animals.  I didn’t want to waste space in our luggage by bringing toys at home, but I am so glad that we packed these little guys.  They really added to the magic.

Before we left our room at the resort each day, we’d make sure our stuffed animals were lying out on the bed.  When we’d return, we’d come back to a fun surprise!  Our toys had as much fun at Disney World as we did!  Continue Reading…

Selfie Sticks

According to Inquisitr and Huffington Post, Selfie Sticks are about to be banned altogether at Walt Disney World.

They were recently banned from being used on attractions, as the sticks pose a safety issue.  (Sticking items outside of a ride vehicle is prohibited.)  Now, if all goes as the sources say, Security will keep guests from taking the sticks past the gate.  Guests will be given the option to either leave and take their Selfie Stick or check it with Guest Relations and pick it up when they leave.

The ban in Disney’s United States Parks begins on Tuesday, June 30th.  July 1st is the start date for the ban in Disneyland Paris and in Hong Kong.
