Cinderella Candy

Here is a recipe that is perfect for your princess party!

I’ve been making this candy since I was in junior high.  It is easy to do and it tastes delicious.  You can customize it with food coloring and extracts to change the flavor.  I usually add coloring to mine, but vanilla is my favorite flavor because I think it makes it taste like cotton candy.

Girl Meets World party
Growing up, my family and I were big fans of Boy Meets World.  I have to admit, over the years, I’ve imagined what happened with Cory and Topanga in their “life” together.  So, of course, when I heard that there was going to be  a new spin-off show, Girl Meets World, I was excited.  I’d decided that when the time came for the premier show, I’d have a little party, just for fun.

While it has taken me quite a while to get this post out, the party itself didn’t take long to prepare.  It was pretty simple, but it turned out really cute.  Just the right amount of fun for the evening.

With my husband’s help, we’d planned a menu.  I decided on World Cupcakes and Feeny Fondue.  At the last minute, I added Mint-to-Be-Together Tea.   Continue Reading…

My husband and I honeymooned in Disney World almost 9 years ago.  The amazing smell of freshly baked waffle cones tempted us until we wandered into The Plaza Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street USA.

I was a little bit sad to learn later that this amazing smell is sometimes piped in through Disney’s Smellitzers (scent-generators that vent smells), but mostly that just made me wish even more that they would sell bottled versions of that smell!  It’s sooo wonderful!

Anyway, we both knew right away that what we wanted was The “Plaza” Ice Cream Sundae, which the menu describes as “Old Fashioned Vanilla with Hot Fudge, Whipped Cream, and a Cherry served in a freshly made Waffle Bowl.”  Yes please!  With two spoons!  (I think you can now pick two kinds of ice cream for it.  We still go for vanilla.  It costs around $5.20.)

We took our delicious waffle bowl to one of those round tables with yellow-striped umbrellas and shared it near the moat of Cinderella Castle.  Ducks waddled around near our table.  It was peaceful and romantic and it made a lasting memory for us.   Continue Reading…

We’d been tossing around the idea of visiting Disney World again soon, so my family and I had been wanting to look through our Disney World vacation photos–you know, to help convince ourselves (as if we needed a reminder of how great of a time we had!).  I saw our resort mugs in the cabinet and decided it would be fun to surprise everyone with a little themed meal. Frozen Movie Meal

My husband loves my cooking, but even he would say that I make horrible pancakes–until I made Norwegian Pancakes.  These thin, beautiful pancakes are very similar to a French crepe.  They’re easy to make and taste delicious.  Tonight, before you watch Frozen, cook up some of these for supper, just to get in the theme of things.

This recipe is by RecipeGirl.  You can check out her post here.

To start, beat 3 eggs well.  Then, use a whisk to add 1 cup of flour and 1/2 teaspoon salt.  This will be really thick.  Put 2 tablespoons of butter in a separate dish and melt it in the microwave.  Add the melted butter to the thick mixture.  Next, gradually whisk in 1 1/2 cups milk, until the batter is smooth.  That’s it for the batter.
