Be a Blessing

Disney Momma  —  February 21, 2017 — Leave a comment

My family recently returned froma 9-day vacation to Walt Disney World: our longest trip yet!  We had a great time and received a lot of excellent service.  One Cast Member (as Disney’s employees are called) stood out, in particular.

We’d had a full day at Hollywood Studios and our 4-year-old, Eric, was fast asleep in the stroller when we went into ABC Commissary to order dinner.  He hadn’t eaten exceptionally well at lunch and it was almost time for Fantasmic!, so we wanted to make sure he ate the supper we’d just gotten him.  We woke him up to eat, which didn’t go well.  He sat at the table a few seconds, then crawled back into the stroller and fell asleep again.  We were able to get him up a second time, but he really didn’t want to be awake, much less eating.

We’d been at the restaurant for quite a while at this point and we’d seen several Cast Members walking by, cleaning tables and delivering trays.  One sweet girl named Madison had noticed our situation and stopped to talk to our son.  She knelt to his level and said, Continue Reading…

Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom will be celebrating its 45th anniversary soon.  Disney Parks Blog is featuring an original attraction each week to commemorate the event.

I thought it would be fun to follow suit.  Their posts have been interesting to read, but they’re short on photos, so I will be posting. some of my pictures from these original attractions.

Recently, I featured the Walt Disney World Railroad.  Today, I’m focusing on the Swiss Family Treehouse.  Treehouse sign

Disney has given glimpses of Belle and some of the scenery for 2017’s live-action Beauty and the Beast, but many of the major elements have remained a mystery.  The film’s trailer left us longing for more after we heard Lumiere and Cogsworth’s voices, while seeing nothing but darkness.

Finally, we get a glimpse of these two, classy sidekicks.  Behold…

What do you think?

Personally, I think Cogsworth is pretty cute.  (Although, are his insides broken?  Hmm.)  I wish Lumiere’s face was more pronounced.  But, the jury is still out for me, until I see them in action.

I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

Carousel of Progress

Fun Facts:

  • Like “it’s a small world,” this attraction was made by Walt Disney himself, for the 1964-1965 World’s Fair.
  • Famous brothers, Richard and Robert Sherman, wrote the famous, catchy song, “There’s a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow.”
  • The scenes are:  Turn-of-the-Century in Spring / 1920s in Summer / 1940s in Fall / Modernday in Winter
  • The attraction get’s its “Carousel” name from the way the auditorium rotates around a round stage, in order to see each scene.

Have you experienced this attraction?  What do you think of it?
Do you hope to try it someday?

World Showcase for kids

World Showcase at Epcot is one of my favorite things in all of Walt Disney World.  It features 11 counties, all along the World Showcase Lagoon.  These countries are:  Canada, United Kingdom, France, Morocco, Japan, United States, Italy, Germany, China, Norway, and Mexico (plus an African Outpost).

I love walking through World Showcase and really feeling as if I’m in those countries.  The architecture, music, food, and shopping are based on the countries that they represent.  Many of the cast members are from the country in which they work, so they speak the language and know the culture.

It is beautiful.  It is fun.  It is educational.  It is delicious.

But, is it something I can do with my young kids?  Won’t they be bored?

YES, you can experience World Showcase and enjoy it with your kids!
NO, they won’t be bored!
